College Fair, Tickets, & More

The Notre Dame Club of Omaha will be hosting a table at the Omaha Area College Fair on Sunday, October 28, 2012. The fair is from 1:00 – 4:00 pm at UNO. We will need someone to help with setup (just to bring the supplies to the fair) and then take them home (afterwards).

There are a number of tickets available on the ticket board – even 2 for the Shamrock Series game this weekend against the Hurricanes. Check the Football Tickets tab for ticket availability. There is even a hotel room available for the BYU game (click on the game to see details).

We had a successful gamewatch for the Michigan State game with nearly 40 people in attendance cheering the Irish on to victory. See some of the pictures below.

Dr. Charles Rice to speak at Thomas More Society Fundraiser

Dr. Charles Rice, Professor Emeritus of Law at the University of Notre Dame, will speak at the Thomas More Society Fundraiser on Friday, September 21. The event starts at 6:30 pm and is being held at St. Charles Borromeo Parish Center in Gretna. Contact the parish office at (402) 916-9730 for tickets ($50).

The Thomas More Society is a non-profit public interest law firm dedicated to restoring respect in law for life, marriage, and religious liberty. This organization provides high quality pro bono services to its clients from the local trial court level to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Michigan State Gamewatch

The Club will be sponsoring a gamewatch for this week’s matchup against Michigan State.  Michael C. will be hosting the event on the top floor of 444 Riverfront Plaza.  The game begins at 7 pm Central time and the food and beverages will be provided.  To help us plan for food, please let us know if you are coming by completing the form embedded below.

Gamewatch for ND vs. Navy and Michigan tickets

The Fighting Irish take on Navy next Saturday in Dublin, Ireland to open the 2012 football season.  Brian D. (’80) and his wife have arranged a gamewatch event here in Omaha at the Pipeline Tavern (1300 S. 72nd Street). Kickoff is scheduled for 8:00 am and the Pipeline has agreed to open its doors at at that time.   Appetizers are being provided.  If you plan on attending, please visit the form linked below and indicate how many people will be with you.
Michigan Tickets
The club has two tickets to the Michigan game on September 22nd.  We are opening up a silent auction for the tickets, with proceeds benefitting the Walsh Scholarship.  The minimum bid is $166.  Please send bids directly to Ed Murphy (ndtkt@cox.net).  All bids must be received by September 5.

Latino Initiative Luncheon

The Archdiocese of Omaha, along with the Latino Catholic Scholarship Fund of Omaha, are welcoming Notre Dame faculty member Fr. Joe Corpora, C.S.C to speak at a luncheon on August 28. Corpora is co-chair of the Notre Dame task force on the Participation of Latino Families and Children in Catholic Schools.  He is speaking about the University’s campaign to increase Latino enrollment in Catholic Schools to one million within the next ten years.  The luncheon is part of the Archdiocese of Omaha’s launch of the Promise 2020 initiative that aims to increase Latino enrollment in Archdiocesan schools.

This luncheon will be held from 11:45-12:45  at the Harper Center Ballroom on the Creighton University Campus. If you are interested in attending you may contact Janet at 402-557-5650 or jmgriffin@archomaha.org.

Freshmen Send-Off – August 5th

You are cordially invited to join fellow freshmen, current students, and alumni for a Meet & Greet, Mass, and Lunch.  The festivities begin at 11:30 am on August 5 at Security National Bank (1120 South 101st Street) with a 30 minute meet and greet.  Mass will begin at noon, followed by lunch.  Dress is nice, yet casual.  RSVP by August 2 via the form below.
